This the pub at 135 Tankerton Road is the third incarnation of the Tankerton Arms.
The first Tankerton Arms was part of the Tankerton Hotel, located on Marine Parade (it’s now flats) and it closed in 1999. See the Dover Kent Archives for photos and more information.
The second Tankerton Arms, a micropub, was opened by Patsy and Nigel Ranger in 2013 in a shop on Tankerton Road, a few hundred yards from the first Tankerton Arms. In its five year existence, this micropub became a firm local favourite winning awards for the quality of its ales and ambience. Sadly, this Tankerton Arms was forced to close in March 2018, when the building in which it was located was scheduled for redevelopment.
Happily, we’ve found new, larger, premises, only three doors away. The Tankerton Arms has now moved on to its third incarnation and this is where it resides today. Here’s to many more happy pints!
